Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant for Posts, Telecommunications and ICT Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb has called for balanced and fair allocation of spectrum to ensure every citizen enjoys affordable and reliable digital connectivity.
He made the observation during his visit to Banglalink headquarters and its advanced Network Management Centre in Dhaka, where he discussed the future of digital inclusion and network expansion in Bangladesh.
Taiyeb said the equitable distribution of sub-1 GHz low-band spectrum, especially the 700 MHz band, would be instrumental in bridging the rural-urban digital divide, easing network congestion, and allowing all operators to provide high-quality services on an equal footing.
He noted that the 700 MHz band—internationally known as the “digital dividend”—holds immense potential to expand connectivity in remote areas and to make internet access more meaningful and inclusive.
During the visit, he engaged with Banglalink management on how the operator is strengthening digital infrastructure across the country by integrating artificial intelligence (AI), enhancing customer experience, and promoting financial inclusion through innovative services.
Banglalink executives showcased their ongoing investments in network modernisation and data-driven optimisation, highlighting how the use of AI and advanced analytics is helping to boost data speed, improve Quality of Service, and deliver a smoother experience to millions of users.
They also shared the company’s initiatives to extend digital and financial solutions to underserved communities, which are aligned with the government’s vision for a digital Bangladesh.
Taiyeb praised Banglalink’s forward-looking initiatives and urged deeper cooperation between public institutions and private operators to maximise spectrum efficiency, foster fair competition, and raise service quality across the board.
Banglalink CEO Johan Buse said, “We highly value the Special Assistant’s guidance on enhancing customer experience. His call for optimal and balanced use of low-band spectrum, including the 700 MHz range, is vital for delivering high-quality connectivity to every citizen.”
