Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant for the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb visited Grameenphone’s (GP) Sylhet Data Centre on September 6.
The facility, built to Tier III standards, is a significant milestone in Bangladesh’s digital infrastructure.
Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb praised the high-quality design and advanced operational standards of the data centre, emphasizing its importance in the country’s digital transformation, according to a press release from the top mobile operator.
He noted the seamless operations ensured by the skilled onsite team and automated monitoring systems.
In his remarks, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb highlighted the critical role of world-class infrastructure in driving Bangladesh’s digital transformation. Abdun Naser Khan emphasized the importance of private sector contributions to the country’s vision of becoming a global digital hub.
Also present during the visit were Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Abdun Naser Khan, Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Ltd (BTCL) Chief General Manager Anwar Masud, and Grameenphone Director and Head of Technology Infrastructure Management Md Abdur Raihan.
The visit also included a symbolic gesture, with Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb and Abdun Naser Khan planting saplings at the center, reinforcing the commitment to a sustainable digital future.
