Expatriates sent $632.38 million to the country in the first six days of December. With each dollar calculated at Tk122, the total amounts to over Tk7,000 crore in Bangladeshi currency.

According to an updated report from Bangladesh Bank, remittances averaged $105.4 million or over Tk1,222 crore per day during this period.

Of the total, $85.88 million came through state-owned banks, while $81.7 million arrived via specialised banks. Additionally, $463 million was sent through private sector banks, and expatriates remitted $1.79 million through foreign banks.

In November, expatriates sent $2.889 billion, the highest amount of the current fiscal year. On average, remittances during that month amounted to $96.3 million per day.

Overall, from July to 6 December of the current fiscal year, remittances reached $13.671 billion. During the same period last year, expatriates had sent $11.732 billion, reflecting a 16.5 percent growth year-on-year.
