Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged authorities to implement ongoing development projects under the Local Government Division swiftly, cost-effectively, and in a people-friendly manner, emphasising that public welfare remains the government’s top priority.
Addressing a progress review meeting of projects undertaken by the Local Government Division and city corporations at the Secretariat, the minister stressed that all public funds must be used responsibly.
“Each development project is designed for the benefit of the people and funded by taxpayers’ money. Transparency, accountability, and timely execution must be ensured, and expenditures should be reasonable,” he said.
Fakhrul Islam Alamgir warned that while successful projects enhance the government’s image, irregularities or negligence could damage the ministry’s credibility. He urged project directors and officials to perform their duties with utmost responsibility.
The meeting, chaired by Local Government Division Secretary Md Shahidul Hasan, included senior ministry officials, city corporation representatives, and project directors. Officials discussed project implementation progress, financial management, and future action plans.
The minister highlighted the importance of completing projects on schedule and adopting modern, sustainable approaches to improve public service quality.
