The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) hosted a vibrant orientation programme for newly admitted students of the Summer 2026 semester on Thursday, at its campus.
Centred on sustainability, environmental awareness, and responsible citizenship, the event moved beyond traditional ceremonies to foster a socially responsible university community through interactive sessions and student engagement.
A primary highlight of the orientation was the introduction of the “1 Seed Box – 5 Global Goals” initiative by the Vice Chancellor Prof Shamsad Mortuza, PhD.
Under this scheme, every fresher received a special Seed Box equipped with the necessary materials to grow a Bakul flower plant.
Prof Mortuza invited the students to actively engage with nature by nurturing these plants and documenting their progress on a dedicated segment of the ULAB website.
The session also featured an introduction to Essential Skills, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to innovation and experiential learning.
The proceedings began with an interactive ice-breaking session conducted by the Student Affairs Office (SAO) team.
During the formal inauguration, Pro Vice Chancellor Jude William Genilo, PhD, shared insights into the university’s academic vision and its success in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), where ULAB has earned global recognition for its innovative approach to higher education.
The day concluded with a series of cultural performances by ULAB Sangskriti Sangsad and various university clubs.
The event finished with energetic musical performances by the bands Grave Chant and Antonagar, providing an inspiring start for the freshers as they began their academic journey.
