A total of 133 people were killed in mob violence across Bangladesh in the past six months, while 56 people lost their lives in political violence during the same period, according to a report by the Human Rights Support Society (HRSS).
The rights organisation also said 5,246 people, including political activists and ordinary citizens, were injured or attacked in various incidents of violence.
HRSS disclosed the findings in a press release sent to the media on Wednesday.
The report said among those killed in political violence, 37 were from the Bngladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), six from Jamaat-e-Islami, three from the Awami League, eight from other political parties, one from an extremist political organisation and one was an ordinary woman.
Of the 830 incidents of political violence recorded during the period, 673 were linked to internal conflicts within the BNP or clashes between the BNP and other political parties, the report said.
It added that 23,121 people were arrested in different cases during the six-month period, of whom 22,995 were Awami League leaders and activists.
The HRSS said 383 journalists faced torture, harassment or attacks during the period.
The organisation also reported that 1,621 women and girls were subjected to violence in the past six months.
The report was prepared based on news published in 16 mainstream national media outlets, information collected by HRSS and its fact-finding reports.
