Emraan Hashmi has fuelled excitement over a possible Awarapan 3 after the strong response to Awarapan 2. The actor hinted that another instalment could arrive “very soon” during a surprise appearance at a Mumbai cinema with co-star Disha Patani.
According to News18, Awarapan 2 hit theatres on Friday, 14 August, and quickly drew attention from audiences. The sequel returns Hashmi to the world of the 2007 cult favourite and had already generated strong interest through advance bookings.
Hashmi and Patani surprised moviegoers by appearing during the interval of a Mumbai screening. They interacted with fans and listened to their reactions to the sequel.
Addressing the audience, Hashmi said the film belonged more to the fans than its makers. He added that this was why they had returned to the franchise and made the new journey bigger, with more action and emotion.
When a fan predicted that Awarapan 2 would become a superhit, Hashmi responded playfully, saying the movie was not over yet and that its second half was better.
He then appeared to hint at another sequel, saying, “Hopefully Awarapan 3 very soon.”
The actor’s comments have added to speculation that the franchise could continue if the second film maintains its momentum.
Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 also features Shabana Azmi in a negative role. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 21 crore net in India on its opening day.
