The Election Commission (EC) will hold a meeting with top officials of 31 ministries and divisions on Thursday afternoon to ensure that the upcoming national election is held in a free, fair, and participatory manner.
The meeting, scheduled to begin around 3pm at Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka’s Agargaon, is part of the commission’s wider initiative to enhance cooperation among government entities involved in the electoral process.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin will chair the meeting, which will also be attended by the four other election commissioners.
A notice signed by Mohammad Monir Hossain, deputy secretary of the EC Secretariat, on 26 October, stated the session aims to promote inter-ministerial discussion and strengthen coordination regarding election-related duties.
Among the 31 ministries, divisions, and agencies invited are the Cabinet Division, Bangladesh Bank, and the Ministries of Home Affairs, Public Administration, Finance, Health, Law, Information and Broadcasting, Local Government, and Education.
The invitation list also includes senior representatives from the ministries of shipping, expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment, agriculture, power, energy and mineral resources, and road transport and bridges.
Through this meeting, the EC aims to finalise coordination mechanisms among relevant institutions to ensure efficient management and transparency throughout the electoral process ahead of the 13th parliamentary election.
