The previously announced three-day holiday for the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) election has been reduced to one day. Only on the day of the election will all academic activities at the university be suspended.
Chief Returning Officer Professor Mohammad Jasim Uddin disclosed this information at a press conference held by the Dhaka University Senate on Wednesday evening.
He said, “Usually, classes are suspended only on election day, but considering the students’ concerns and overall security, there was a request to the administration to extend the holiday.”
“However, at this moment of the election, upon reconsideration based on the candidates’ requests, the previous three-day holiday has been reduced to one day,” he added.
Professor Jasim Uddin stated, “No campaigning will be allowed on the day before the election. All types of campaigning will be prohibited 24 hours before the election. On that day, classes will run normally, and students will attend classes as per usual.”
