Dhaka University’s (DU) Accounting Department held an awareness meeting on Bangla QR on Thursday at Professor Abdullah Farouk Multipurpose Conference Room at MBA building of the campus, aiming to promote a cashless financial management system.
DU Vice-Chancellor ABM Obaidul Islam inaugurated the programme, where Accounting Department Chairman Maksudur Rahman Sarkar chaired the event.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Md Mostakur Rahman was the chief guest, and Dutch-Bangla Bank Managing Director and CEO Md Ahteshamul Haque Khan was the special guest, said a press release.
Obaidul Islam said Bangla QR will ensure easy, fast and secure digital transactions among all banks, mobile financial services and other payment service providers.
He expressed hope that such initiatives will raise awareness about digital payments among students and thanked the organisers for this initiative.
The VC also called on public and private bank authorities to come forward in supporting underprivileged students of the university.
Attendees, including teachers, students, officers, employees and invited guests, were informed about the use, benefits and interoperability of Bangla QR payment systems.
The programme also featured live transaction demonstrations, awareness presentations and a question-and-answer session.
