Dhaka University (DU) will open online applications for undergraduate (Honours) programmes for the 2025-2026 academic session from 12pm on 29 October. The application window will remain open until 11:59pm on 16 November.
This decision was taken at the General Admission Committee meeting held on Monday at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Hall. The meeting was chaired by DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Saima Hossain Bidisha, Treasurer M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, convener of the online admission committee, deans of faculties, hall provosts, proctor, department chairs, directors of institutes, and other relevant officials were present.
The meeting finalised the admission schedule, eligibility criteria, exam centres, and other key details.
Admission tests begin 28 Nov
The admission tests will start with the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Unit on 28 November, from 10am to 12pm. The Fine Arts Unit test will be held on 29 November from 11am to 12:30pm, the Business Studies Unit (G Unit) on 6 December.
At the same time, Arts, Law and Social Sciences Unit (B Unit) test will be held on 13 December, and finally the Science Unit (C Unit) on 20 December.
All units except IBA will hold exams from 11am to 12:30pm. Applicants can download admit cards from the university’s admission website starting 24 November.
Eligibility
Applicants must have passed their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or equivalent between 2020 and 2023 and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or equivalent in 2025 to be eligible. No other qualifications will be considered.
Admission eligibility will be based on the combined GPA of SSC and HSC results.
For the Science Unit, the total GPA (including the fourth subject) of SSC and HSC must be at least 8.0, with a minimum of 3.5 in each examination. For Arts, Law and Social Sciences, and Business Studies units, the total GPA must be at least 7.5 with a minimum of 3.0 in each exam.
Fine Arts Unit applicants must have a combined GPA of at least 6.5, with a minimum of 3.0 in each exam.
Exam centres
Admission tests will be held not only at the DU campus but also at various public universities across the country.
Except for the IBA and Fine Arts Units, exams will be conducted at eight divisional centres: Rajshahi University, Chattogram University, Khulna University, Barishal University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Poet Nazrul University in Mymensingh, and Begum Rokeya University.
The Business Studies Unit exam will take place in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chattogram, Khulna, and Begum Rokeya University.
Exam format
All units except Fine Arts will have a 60-mark MCQ section and a 40-mark written test. The Fine Arts Unit will have a 40-mark MCQ and a 60-mark drawing test.
MCQ duration is 45 minutes for other units and 30 minutes for Fine Arts. Written exam duration is 45 minutes for other units and 60 minutes for Fine Arts.
The total admission score is 120 marks, including 100 marks from the admission test and an additional 20 marks based on SSC and HSC results.
