The capital bourse faced broad-based profit booking pressure on Tuesday, as investors locked in recent gains and turned cautious amid volatile market momentum. This nearly wiped out two weeks of index gains.

The DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, fell by 1.58 percent, losing 89.3 points to settle at 5,538 points, marking its lowest level in seven days.

Market momentum remained downbeat for most of the session, with mounting sell pressure on the majority of scrips dragging the market indices lower. Market turnover also decreased by 16.0 percent, dropping to Tk1,177 crore.
