A microbus carrying drugs crashed into a house in the border village of Tergharia, Meherpur, while the residents slept. The impact collapsed a wall of the house, injuring a man.
Meherpur Sadar Police Station SI Anup Kumar Das confirmed the matter. The incident occurred at around 5am on Wednesday. The injured man has been identified as Arshad Ali.
Police have arrested the drug trafficker, Anik Hossain Biplob, and seized 1.5 kg of marijuana from the scene.
According to local sources, Arshad Ali’s residence is situated beside the road in Tergharia. The family was sleeping when the speeding microbus struck the house, causing a brick wall to collapse onto Arshad.
Following the collision, the microbus overturned on the road. Locals rushed to the spot and, discovering the marijuana inside the vehicle, detained the driver, Biplob, until the police arrived to take him into custody. The injured Arshad Ali was provided with local medical treatment.
SI Anup said police will file a case against Biplob on drug trafficking charges.
