The Detective Motijheel Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested a suspected drug dealer with 77 kilograms of marijuana in Shyampur, Dhaka.
The arrestee has been identified as Md Sohel Sardar, 38. The details were confirmed in a press release issued by Niaz Mehedi, additional deputy commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Division of DMP.
According to the Detective Motijheel Division, a police team conducted a raid in West Dholaipar area under the jurisdiction of Shyampur Police Station on Saturday, acting on a secret tip-off.
During the drive, the police arrested Sohel with 77 kilograms of marijuana and recovered a mobile phone from his possession.
Sources from the division further revealed that Sohel has 20 cases pending in court under various laws, including nine under the Narcotics Control Act.
A regular case under the Narcotics Control Act has been registered against him at Shyampur Police Station, and he has been sent to court.
