Bangladesh cricket team returned home yesterday after losing all matches to Afghanistan in the ODI series. Their experience this time was different. At the airport, they had to lower their heads while hearing jeers from some supporters. Echoes of boos filed the air and many fans even went towards the cricketers’ cars in an attacking manner.

Cricketer Nasir Hossain asked people to support the team instead of mocking them in hard times. On his verified Facebook page, he wrote,

“We are cricket players, but more importantly, we are human. We are made of flesh and blood. We are not robots.

When we win, 170 million people celebrate. So why should only 11 players carry all the pain when we lose? My question to the nation is – does anyone want to lose on purpose?”

He added, “If joy can be shared, can’t a little sympathy be shown in difficult times? Without insults and without hurting confidence, can’t people encourage us and help us move toward victory? Inshallah, we will perform well in the future. Wins and losses are part of the game. We cannot break because of them.

We want to come back stronger and prove ourselves. We ask for the love, prayers, and support of 170 million people.”
