The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) is launching a month-long typhoid vaccination campaign from 12 October to protect children across its 10 administrative regions.

DNCC’s Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Imrul Kayes Chowdhury announced the initiative at a press conference held at the Nagar Bhaban on Wednesday.

He said the vaccination drive will run from 12 to 30 October at educational institutions for 10 working days, excluding Fridays and public holidays.

Later, vaccines will be administered at permanent EPI centers from 13 October to 13 November for 18 days, followed by outreach EPI centers between 1-13 November.

Each vaccination team will consist of 2 vaccinators and 3 volunteers, operating daily from 8:00am to 3:30pm, he added.

The campaign’s inaugural event will take place on 12 October at Residential Model College in Mohammadpur, with DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz attending as the chief guest.

According to DNCC officials, the campaign aims to immunize around 1.3 million children against typhoid, marking one of the largest health initiatives undertaken by the city corporation this year.
