The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a traffic advisory on the occasion of Martyred Intellectuals Day, suggesting vehicles to use alternative routes on certain roads due to the movement of high-profile dignitaries.
These instructions were part of a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali and issued on Saturday.
It states that that on 14 December, leaders from various organizations, including the president, chief adviser, chief justice, advisers to different ministries, foreign diplomats, and senior government officials, will visit the Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals Memorial.
To ensure smooth traffic in the area, all vehicles, including buses, trucks, covered vans, cars, microbuses, CNGs, and rickshaw-vans, are requested to avoid Mirpur Mazar Road (from Mazar Road Crossing to Mirpur 1 Crossing) and use the alternative routes provided below from 3am to 9:30am.
The alternative routes include vehicles coming from Ashulia via Beribandh Road to Mirpur, which should pass through Nawabbagh crossing, Gudaraghat, and Raikhola crossing (Zoo Road). Vehicles traveling through Mazar Road crossing and Shah Ali Mazar should use Technical Mor, Ansar Camp, Bangla College, and Mirpur 1 Road.
For vehicles traveling from Mirpur 10 Roundabout to Gabtali via Mirpur 1 and Mazar Road, a U-turn should be taken at Tanin Gap from Mirpur 1, followed by Nawabbagh or Diyabari crossing, continuing through Brothers Gap to Gabtali.
Vehicles traveling towards Dhaka from Gabtali should take a left turn at Brothers Gap, pass through Beribandh Diyabari crossing, and use Nawabbagh crossing to proceed towards Gudaraghat and Raikhola crossing (Zoo Road).
Furthermore, vehicles from the Darussalam Police Station area heading to different destinations are advised to avoid using the 10th Community Center road and instead travel via Golartek, Palpara Ghat, Gabtali, and Beribandh, using Nawabbagh Crossing.
The DMP has requested the full cooperation of residents, vehicle owners, and workers to ensure the smooth implementation of the traffic management plan.
