The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed 3,512 cases against vehicles and drivers for violating traffic rules during drives conducted across the capital over the past two days.
The cases were filed during operations on Thursday and Friday, according to a press release issued on Saturday by DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Niaz Mehedi.
The highest number of cases was recorded in Wari Division with 623, followed by Motijheel with 597, Mirpur with 567, Tejgaon with 524, Uttara with 439, Gulshan with 405, Lalbagh with 265 and Ramna with 156.
During the drives, police also impounded 993 vehicles and towed away 449 others for violating traffic regulations.
The DMP said its Traffic Division would continue regular enforcement drives to maintain traffic discipline across the capital.
