Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 1,721 cases for traffic rule violations across different parts of the capital in a 24-hour drive.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) NM Nasiruddin said the traffic division carried out a drive against rule breakers and filed the cases during the period.
He said traffic police also dumped 382 motor vehicles and towed 144 others during the drive conducted on 3 May.
According to zone-wise data, 93 cases were filed in Ramna, 152 in Lalbagh, 160 in Motijheel, 281 in Wari, 180 in Tejgaon, 416 in Mirpur, 241 in Uttara and 198 in Gulshan.
The DMP Traffic Division said it will continue such drives to maintain discipline on Dhaka’s roads.
