The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) organised a traffic awareness programme for students at South Point School in Rampura, Dhaka.
The initiative aimed to promote road safety, educate the future generation on traffic laws, and spread messages about environmental conservation.
The event, held on Thursday morning, was attended by DMP Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md Anisur Rahman.
Addressing the students, he said, “The habit of following traffic rules must be instilled from childhood. Families shape society, and society shapes the state. Therefore, everyone must fulfil their responsibilities properly.”
During the programme, students received hands-on guidance on traffic laws, road safety, proper road-crossing practices, and the meanings of various traffic signals. A projector presentation highlighted traffic light signals and safe movement on the roads.
Additional Police Commissioner Anisur Rahman also introduced an innovative initiative to raise environmental awareness among students. He suggested that students could save half of their daily tiffin money to buy a tree, which would later be planted to create a small garden around the school.
Responding positively to the proposal, he said, “In the future, you will be able to say that this garden was created by you. You will have done something beautiful for society.”
At the event, Farzana Haque, Additional Deputy Commissioner of the Motijheel Traffic Division, was instructed to oversee the students’ participation and to identify a suitable area beside the school for planting the garden.
