Disney+ has unveiled the first teaser and character posters for The Remarried Empress, offering a glimpse of what is shaping up to be one of its most ambitious Korean productions yet, writes Hindustan Times.
Starring Shin Mina, Ju Ji Hoon, Lee Jong Suk and Lee Se Young, the romantic fantasy drama follows a royal marriage caught in a web of betrayal, ambition and forbidden love.
The teaser and posters were released on 26 August.
The teaser introduces Empress Navier (Shin Mina), the poised and respected ruler of the Eastern Kingdom.
Behind her composed exterior, however, her marriage to Emperor Sovieshu (Ju Ji Hoon) is beginning to fall apart.
Their relationship changes when Rashta (Lee Se Young), an escaped slave, enters the imperial court and captures Sovieshu’s attention.
Although the emperor initially assures Navier that she will always be his only wife, his feelings for Rashta soon create a rift in their marriage.
The arrival of Crown Prince Heinrey (Lee Jong Suk) of the Western Kingdom further complicates matters.
As Heinrey grows closer to Navier, Sovieshu becomes increasingly jealous.
The teaser culminates in the emperor declaring, “I must divorce the Empress.” Navier responds with a demand of her own: “I will accept the divorce. And I demand that I can remarry.”
Based on Alphatart’s hugely popular webtoon, The Remarried Empress has reportedly amassed nearly three billion views worldwide.
The story follows Navier as she refuses to let the collapse of her marriage determine her future and seeks to reclaim her power by marrying Heinrey.
The drama is adapted by Yeoh Geena and Hyun Choongyeol and directed by Cho Suwon, known for Still 17 and Pinocchio.
The production is being positioned as Disney+’s most expensive Korean series to date, with filming taking place at European palaces alongside elaborate sets created for its royal world.
The series will premiere on Disney+ on 4 November, with four episodes released on the first day. Two new episodes will follow weekly, with the finale scheduled for 25 November.
Before its streaming debut, The Remarried Empress will have its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival 2026 in October.
Three episodes will be screened in the festival’s On Screen section, with the 31st edition running from 6 to 15 October.
