Tawfique Nawaz, husband of former Social Welfare Minister Dipu Moni, met his wife at the jail cell of the International Crimes Tribunal on Sunday, where she is an accused in a case of crimes against humanity committed during the July uprising.
Tawfique Nawaz first sought permission from the International Crimes Tribunal-1 to meet his wife through lawyer Sifat Mahmud. The court subsequently granted the permission.
After receiving court approval, Tawfique Nawaz was taken to the tribunal’s jail cell in a wheelchair, where he met and spoke briefly with his wife.
Dipu Moni, along with nine other accused in the case, was produced before the tribunal earlier in the day. Later, in response to the prosecution’s application, the court ordered the submission of the investigation progress report by 26 July.
