Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin stated that foreign diplomats in Bangladesh have expressed full confidence in the capacity to conduct a free, fair, neutral, and credible election.
The CEC made these remarks while addressing journalists following a meeting with diplomats from various embassies and missions at the Westin Hotel in the capital’s Gulshan area at 12:15pm.
During the session, the commission presented its activities in detail and provided assurances that there is no vote-buying.
The CEC stated that they would deliver a credible election and that the diplomats remain optimistic about the outcome.
In terms of security during the polls, the commission informed the foreign representatives that the army and Ansar forces would provide assistance to the police.
Nasir Uddin said the diplomats understood the action plan clearly and were satisfied that the objective is fully transparent, aiming for a smooth electoral process.
He also noted that the diplomats offered assurances of their future cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Election Commissioners Abdur Rahmanel Masud, Tahmida Ahmad, Md Anwarul Islam Sarker, and Brig Gen (retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah.
Senior Secretary of the EC Secretariat Akhtar Ahmed and other senior commission officials were also in attendance.
Participants included ambassadors, high commissioners, and representatives from various nations, alongside officials from the European Union and the United Nations.
According to commission sources, the diplomats were briefed on a range of issues including overall preparations, the electoral process, the appointment of international observers, transparency measures, and the prevailing law and order situation.
