Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi has paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The meeting took place at 11am on Monday at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Secretariat, Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony said.
It was a courtesy meeting, during which bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed. This was Trivedi’s first meeting with the prime minister, he added.
Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir were present at the meeting.
In April, the Government of India appointed Trivedi as the 16th High Commissioner to Dhaka. On 25 June, he presented his credentials to then president Mohammed Shahabuddin. On 29 July, Trivedi met the foreign minister and State Minister Shama Obaid.
Trivedi arrived in Dhaka on 5 June via the land border through West Bengal. His predecessor as India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh was Pranay Verma, who is now serving as India’s Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union.
