Tamil actor Dhanush has sparked fresh speculation about a possible political entry after a speech at a fan-organised blood donation camp led fans to draw comparisons with actors who later entered politics, states Hindustan Times.

Dhanush, who has worked as an actor, director, producer and singer throughout his career, urged his fans to use their unity for a purpose beyond cinema during the event on Sunday.

He encouraged them to focus on welfare activities and support people in their communities.

“So many people have gathered in one place; this kind of unity has power,” Dhanush told his fans.

He added that their unity should not remain limited to audio launches or fan meetings but should extend to social service and helping families around them.

The speech quickly fuelled political rumours, with many fans comparing his words and public appearance to actor Vijay’s journey before he launched his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

Several social media users suggested that Dhanush could follow a similar path by building a public service network before entering politics.

One fan on X (formerly Twitter) wrote that Dhanush’s speech and body language hinted at a possible political future, while another expressed excitement about his potential entry into politics.

Speculation around Dhanush’s political ambitions has appeared before. In June, his father, filmmaker Kasthuri Raja, addressed questions about the possibility of Dhanush starting a political party.

He said that if his son decided to launch a party, he would do so, but if not, he would not.

Earlier, rumours also grew after a fan club flag associated with Dhanush drew attention online, with some claiming it could become a political party symbol.

However, director and fan club member Subramaniam Siva dismissed the claims, saying fans had used the same flag for nearly 15 years during celebrations, weddings and film-related events.

The recent speculation comes after Vijay’s political success with TVK and his rise as Tamil Nadu’s chief minister.

The state has seen increasing discussions about film personalities entering politics, with Rajinikanth’s wife Latha Rajinikanth also launching the people’s welfare platform Makkal Medai in June.

Dhanush, however, has not confirmed or denied any plans to enter politics.
