Dhaka stocks rebounded on Thursday, snapping a two-session losing streak as renewed investor confidence triggered broad-based buying amid optimism over planned capital market reforms and possible revisions to margin lending rules.

The benchmark DSEX index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose 33.8 points, or 0.59 per cent, to close at 5,804, reclaiming the psychologically important 5,800 level after ending at 5,770 in the previous session.

The blue-chip DS30 index gained 8.5 points to 2,178, while the SME-focused DSMEX index fell 23.1 points to 1,319.

“The market opened firmly, although early profit-taking briefly capped gains,” EBL Securities Research wrote in its post-closing market commentary.
