Several highly anticipated international concerts in Dhaka have been postponed or rescheduled this weekend amid security concerns and delays in securing the required approvals.
The first affected event is ‘Sense It with Murtaza Qizilbash’, which was scheduled for 25 September. The concert was rescheduled following last-minute security interventions and directives from the relevant authorities.
Organisers said a new date would be announced once it is confirmed. Tickets already purchased will remain valid for the rescheduled show.
The concert is expected to mark Pakistani singer Murtaza Qizilbash’s first international performance.
Also scheduled for 25 September, ‘mAhx Republic’ has been rescheduled. The concert was due to take place at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Purbachal.
Nagar Baul James was scheduled to perform at the event alongside Pakistani artistes Ali Azmat, Roxen frontman Mustafa Zahid and members of Jal.
Meanwhile, ‘Wave Fest: Enjoy the Full Moon’, scheduled for 26 September, has also been postponed after the organisers failed to obtain the required permission.
Organised by Prime Wave Communication, the concert was set to feature Pakistani band Kaavish and Bangladeshi bands Shironamhin and Meghdol.
The postponements have left several much-awaited shows uncertain, with music fans now awaiting revised dates and further announcements from the organisers.
