Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, Barrister Kayser Kamal, has donated one month’s salary to provide an Instant Power Supply (IPS) for a school in Kalmakanda, Netrokona. The donation, amounting to Tk1 lakh, aims to ensure uninterrupted classes during frequent power outages.
The deputy speaker announced the contribution during a surprise visit to Mukti Pre-Cadet School this morning.
His decision followed appeals from parents regarding disruptions to lessons caused by recent electricity failures amid extreme heat.
The school accommodates more than 400 students from playgroup to class eight, operating in two shifts. Several parents, including Ruma Akter, Morium, Pinky Saha, and Rima Akter, had requested an IPS to safeguard the students’ education.
Responding to their concerns, Kayser Kamal said, “Instead of waiting for authorities, I am personally addressing this issue. I am donating one month’s salary to buy a high-quality IPS. Please arrange it promptly for the children”.
The prompt action was welcomed by parents and local residents, who expressed their gratitude for the support. The school management and teachers also conveyed their sincere thanks to the deputy speaker for his assistance.
