In the past 24 hours, 486 people have been hospitalised with dengue in the country.
However, no dengue-related deaths have been reported during this period. This keeps the total number of dengue deaths this year at 394.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued on Saturday by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to the release, from Friday 8am to Saturday 8am, 486 patients were admitted to hospitals with dengue.
Among the newly infected, 50 patients were admitted in Barishal division, 77 in Chattogram, 76 in Dhaka (outside the city), 110 in Dhaka North City, 66 in Dhaka South City, 36 in Khulna division (outside the city), 32 in Mymensingh division, 34 in Rajshahi division, and five in Rangpur division.
During the same period, 581 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals. With this, the total number of discharged patients this year stands at 95,204.
So far this year, 97,313 people have been infected with dengue. Of them, 62.4 percent are men and 37.6 percent are women.
November recorded the highest number of dengue deaths this year, with 104 fatalities. Before that, 80 deaths occurred in October and 76 in September.
Additionally, dengue caused 39 deaths in August, 41 in July, 19 in June, three in May, seven in April, three in February, and 10 in January. No dengue deaths were reported in March.
Meanwhile, hospital admissions due to dengue included 1,161 patients in January, 374 in February, 336 in March, 701 in April, 1,773 in May, 5,951 in June, and 10,496 in August.
Furthermore, 15,866 patients were admitted in September, 22,520 in October, and 24,535 in November.
The DGHS reported that data on hospital admissions and deaths from dengue have been collected since 2000.
According to the data, from January to 31 December 2024, a total of 101,214 dengue cases were recorded, with 575 deaths.
From 1 January to 31 December 2023, dengue claimed 1,705 lives, while 321,179 patients were hospitalised.
