The World Arabic Language Day, a UN recognised international occasion, is celebrated around the world on December 18 every year.
To commemorate the occasion, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh organised a press conference in their premises.
In the conference, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Zafer bin Abiyah, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh, said in a speech that Arabic is a sacred and historical language which connects 1.5 billion Muslims globally. It is a language that has the potential to connect people and also convey knowledge in various fields from academics to media to corporate.
Along with His Excellency, there was Dr. Ruhul Amin, Professor of the Department of Arabic at University of Dhaka, and Dr. Waliullah, Professor and Dean of Faculty of Kamil at Islamic Arabic University, who touched on subjects such as promoting the Arabic language and calligraphy.
At the conference, there were two expert calligraphers who calligraphed the names of the attendees along with a collection of calligraphic art in various forms.
Arabic is one of the worlds most influential and widely spoken languages and one of the six official languages recognised by the UN.
It is not merely a means of communication but also is a living repository of history, culture, science, and human thought.
From classical literature and poetry to modern media, diplomacy, and technology, Arabic continues to evolve while keeping its authenticity.
