A death row convict died on Tuesday morning while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The deceased, identified as Arif Mia, who was at Dhaka Central Jail (Keraniganj) passed away around 11:30 am in a ward of the hospital.

Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said prison guards admitted Arif  to the hospital on Friday after he fell ill in jail.

He had been receiving treatment there until his demise. The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy.

According to prison sources, Arif was a convict in a murder case filed with Palash Police Station in Narsingdi district.
