DSE Brokers Association of Bangladesh (DBA) has called for the complete withdrawal of the floor price, saying the restriction is stalled trading in some stocks and increasing risks for investors.
DBA sent a letter to Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Khondker Rashed Maqsood on Monday, highlighting continued market stagnation linked to the price limit.
The association said the restriction has left Beximco Limited largely without trading for a prolonged period.
It said Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC shares remained stuck at the lower limit on 3 May, preventing normal selling activity.
DBA warned that the prolonged restriction is raising the risk of negative equity for investors using margin loans, which could affect overall market stability.
It also said the price limit is hurting Bangladesh’s image among international investors by signalling a lack of market flexibility.
DBA urged BSEC to remove the floor price on the affected stocks to restore normal trading and liquidity.
It said prompt action is needed to protect investors and revive market activity.
