Members of the Detective Branch (DB) on Monday arrested former acting mayor of Nalchity municipality in Jhalakathi and four leaders of the Awami League and its affiliated organisations from the capital.
They were detained from different areas of Dhaka, and the information was made public on Tuesday.
Muhammad Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner of DB (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the matter.
He told reporters, “The DB of DMP has arrested the former acting mayor of Nalchity municipality in Jhalakathi along with 4 other leaders of the banned Awami League.”
He added, “Detailed information about the arrested individuals will be shared later.”
