A woman injured in a road accident involving the vehicle of State Minister for Public Administration and Food Abdul Bari in Bogura’s Shibganj has died while undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The deceased was identified as Firoza Begum, 60, wife of late Nizam Uddin of Gopinathpur village under Kichak union in Shibganj.

The accident also left the state minister and his wife Nazma Ara Begum injured.

The incident took place around 9am on Friday on the Mokamtola-Joypurhat road in Gopinathpur area of Kichak union. Firoza Begum died while undergoing treatment at TMSS Medical College Hospital in Bogura around noon.

Shibganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shaheenuzzaman confirmed the incident.

The state minister was travelling from Dhaka to his constituency, Joypurhat-2, when the woman suddenly came in front of his vehicle in Gopinathpur area.

The driver lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid her, causing it to veer off the road and fall into a roadside ditch, according to police.

The injured minister and his wife received primary treatment and later left for Joypurhat in another vehicle.
