Daffodil International University has been ranked the top university in Bangladesh in the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026, published on 18 November 2025.
The university secured 484th place globally, a significant rise from 690th last year, and 112th in Asia. It was evaluated against 2,002 institutions worldwide, achieving an overall score of 69.5 out of 100. This performance sets a new benchmark for sustainable development within the nation’s higher education sector.
The QS assessment measures institutions across three core areas: Environmental Impact, Social Impact, and Governance. The university’s rise reflects its consistent progress in these indicators, demonstrating a commitment that extends beyond academic excellence to encompass environmental responsibility, ethical governance, and social impact. Its extensive work in research, renewable energy, carbon-footprint reduction, digital transformation, women’s leadership, and industry-academia collaboration was cited as instrumental in achieving this recognition.
“Sustainable development is what will lead the world in the future,” said Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. “From the very beginning, we are shaping every aspect of our education, research, innovation, and administrative policies in alignment with sustainability. Being ranked the best in Bangladesh and achieving such an impressive global position in the QS Sustainability Rankings is reflecting our long-term vision. This success is coming from collective effort and shared belief.” He added, “We want our students not just to earn a degree, but to prepare themselves as responsible global citizens. This recognition is inspiring us even further on that path.”
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M R Kabir stated that the ranking serves as strong evidence of the university’s commitment to its core principles. “Becoming the top-ranked university in Bangladesh in the QS Sustainability Rankings is serving as strong evidence of DIU’s commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, digital transformation, and environment-friendly policies,” Kabir said. “This is not just a ranking it is standing as an international acknowledgment of our promise to build a sustainable planet for future generations.”
He further credited the university community, noting that teachers, students, researchers, alumni, and staff all played crucial roles. “We want to strengthen our progress through more international collaborations, new research initiatives, and sustainable campus development,” he added.
The university expressed gratitude to its faculty, students, alumni, researchers, administrative staff, and institutional partners, stating their collective dedication has positioned it as a nationally leading and globally recognized institution.
