The constitution of the Chattogram University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) has undergone significant changes, with four assistant secretary positions removed and an equal number of new secretary posts added. Additionally, all secretary positions under the Hall Union have been abolished.
The development was confirmed on Saturday noon by Professor Md Kamal Uddin, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) and head of the constitution drafting committee.
He said, “These changes have been made in response to long-standing student demands. The revised constitution will be published on the university website after the Vice-Chancellor’s approval.”
Under the new structure, two new positions have been created: Social Service and Environment Secretary and Law and Human Rights Secretary. Three more new positions have also been added: Library and Cafeteria Secretary, Liberation War and Democratic Movements Secretary, and Career Development and International Affairs Secretary. Despite these changes, the total number of positions remains 28.
The updated posts in the Central Students’ Union are: President, Vice-President, General Secretary, Joint General Secretary, Treasurer, Sports Secretary and Assistant Secretary, Literature and Culture Secretary and Assistant Secretary, Department Secretary and Assistant Secretary, Social Service and Environment Secretary, Law and Human Rights Secretary, Liberation War and Democratic Movements Secretary, Career Development and International Affairs Secretary, Communication and Housing Secretary and Assistant Secretary, Research and Innovation Secretary, Science and IT Secretary, Female Welfare Secretary, Health Secretary, Library and Cafeteria Secretary, and five Executive Members.
The revised positions in the Hall Union include: President, Vice-President, General Secretary, Joint General Secretary, Treasurer, Sports Secretary, Literature and Culture Secretary, Department Secretary, Social Service, Environment and Human Rights Secretary, Science, Research and IT Secretary, Health Secretary, Reading Room, Dining and Hall Library Secretary, Communication and Housing Secretary, and five Executive Members.
In addition, the final voter list for the CUCSU election was published on Saturday, including 25,866 students. Distribution of nomination papers will begin from Sunday.
