The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested alleged Geneva Camp drug trader Bashir Molla from the capital’s Agargaon area on Sunday.
Acting on a tip-off, a CTTC team detained him during an operation in the area.
Sources at Adabor Police Station said Bashir, who was reportedly involved in Awami League politics, faces several narcotics-related cases.
He has also been named as an accused in a case filed over the killing of a student during the July unrest, the sources said.
Although the arrest has been confirmed, the CTTC had not issued an official statement or disclosed further details of the operation at the time of filing this report.
