The arrestees were identified as Zakir Hossain, 26, of Madaripur, and Tanvir Ahmed, 30, of Barishal. Police said Tanvir is a dismissed employee of Cox’s Bazar Airport.

Officials said the duo was scheduled to board a US-Bangla Airlines flight to Dhaka at 11:25 am.

During luggage scanning, security personnel detected the contraband hidden inside two cricket bats and later recovered 5,100 yaba pills.

Both were handed over to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station, officer-in-charge Ilias Khan confirmed. He said a case under the Narcotics Control Act is being processed.
