The first meeting of the newly elected Central Committee of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), following its 13th Congress, has been held. The meeting took place today, Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Muktibhaban in Purana Paltan.
During the meeting, Kazi Sazzad Zahir Chandan was elected President and Abdullah Kafi Ratan was elected General Secretary.
The first meeting of the Central Committee also elected an 8-member Presidium. Besides the President and General Secretary, the other members of the Presidium are: Mujahidul Islam Selim, Rafiquzzaman Layek, SA Rashid, Ragib Ahsan Munna, Joly Talukder, and Md Aminul Farid.
Other members of the 43-member Central Committee were also electe4d during CPB’s 13th Congress.
