The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has upheld the Election Commission’s (EC) redrawing of boundaries for the Cumilla‑2 constituency, which now consists of Homna and Titas upazilas.
A three‑member bench led by Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury passed the order, overturning a previous High Court ruling and maintaining the EC’s configuration for the upcoming national election.
During the 12th parliamentary election, the Cumilla‑2 seat comprised Homna and Meghna upazilas.
However, on 4 September last year, the EC redefined the boundaries to include Homna and Titas.
The EC’s decision was initially challenged through a writ petition filed by Mohammad Mohiuddin, president of the Homna upazila unit of BNP.
On 17 September 2025, the High Court issued a rule regarding the matter, and on 8 January it declared the rule absolute. This ruling effectively restored the previous boundaries (Homna and Meghna).
