A Dhaka court has ordered the authorities concern to seize income tax records of former state ministers Nasrul Hamid and Meher Afroz Chumki, and former MPs Md Zahid Ahsan Russell, Sheikh Helal Uddin, and Md Zakir Hossain.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Sabbir Faiz issued the order on Sunday following 10 separate applications filed by the Anti‑Corruption Commission (ACC).

The court also ordered to seize tax records of Nasrul Hamid’s wife Seema Hamid and son Zarif Hamid, Sheikh Helal Uddin’s wife Sheikh Rupa Chowdhury, former health minister Mohammad Nasim’s son Tamal Monsur, and former chief whip Nur‑e‑Alam Chowdhury’s wife Zinat Parveen Chowdhury.

According to the ACC applications, investigation officers have been appointed to probe allegations against them. Preliminary findings suggest offences punishable under various sections of the Anti‑Corruption Commission Act, 2004, the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947, and the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012.

The ACC argued that, for the sake of fair investigation, it was necessary to seize and review the individuals’ income tax returns and related documents. The court later granted the applications and issued the order.
