A Dhaka court has cancelled the bail of singer Mainul Ahsan Noble and sent him to jail in a case filed over misappropriation of Tk13 lakh through a false promise of marriage.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Raju Ahmed passed the order on Thursday following a hearing, said plaintiff’s lawyer Nasidus Zaman Nishan Prince.
Nasidus said Noble violated the terms of the bail compromise with the plaintiff. Despite agreeing to marry, he did not do so after being released on bail, nor did he return the money. Therefore, they sought cancellation of his bail.
Earlier, on 24 February, the same court had granted him bail until 2 April on the condition of a compromise with the plaintiff.
On 3 February, the court issued arrest warrants against Noble, his mother, wife, and five others after receiving the investigation report from the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
Demra police later arrested him around 12:30pm on 23 February from Bottola area under Siddirganj Police Station in Narayanganj.
According to the case statement, Noble had been in a relationship with a woman and proposed marriage. Taking advantage of the relationship, he allegedly took Tk13,18,540 from her at various times between 25 August 2023 and June 2025, but did not return the money.
The case was filed on 13 August 2025, after which the judge directed the PBI to investigate. Following the probe, PBI Sub‑inspector Nuruzzaman submitted a report on 7 January confirming the plaintiff’s allegations.
Previously, Noble had been arrested on 19 May 2025 in a case filed with Demra Police Station on charges of rape and assault. He was granted bail on 24 June that year, five days after marrying the plaintiff in that case while in jail.
