Aliss Islam marked his return from a long injury lay-off with 4 for 22 as Prime Bank Cricket Club beat Agrani Bank Cricket Club by 22 runs in the Dhaka Premier League on Monday.
The mystery spinner played his first List A match after two seasons out and took control with disciplined lines. He kept the ball tight, forced errors, and removed key batters to shape the result.
Aliss reflected on the break and the effort to return. “I could not play List A cricket for almost two years because of injury. Coming back was challenging at the start. I did not expect such a performance in the first match, but I did well.”
He focused on execution rather than milestones during the spell. “I do not think about five wickets or anything like that. I try to bowl in the right areas. Wickets come from Allah.”
Prime Bank fielded a young side and relied on energy in the field. Alis backed the group to progress. “We have a young team. There is a lot of talent who can serve Bangladesh in future. We hope they will play their best cricket and we will do well in this competition.”
Opponents showed caution against him, aware of his variations. Aliss acknowledged the need to keep improving. “Now everyone knows I can move the ball both ways. They play me carefully. If I do not improve, I will not succeed.”
The performance earned him player of the match and set a strong start for Prime Bank’s campaign.
