Cold intensifies in Chuadanga as temperature drops to 12°C

Chuadanga recorded its lowest temperature of the season on Friday at 12.6 degrees Celsius, with humidity at 88 percent.

The information was confirmed by the Chuadanga Meteorological Office at 9am. Earlier, at 6am, the temperature had been recorded at 12.8 degrees Celsius, when humidity stood at 96 percent.

Zaminur Rahman, an observer at the Chuadanga First Class Weather Observatory, said the minimum temperature at 9am was 12.6 degrees Celsius with 88 percent humidity.

He added that night and early-morning temperatures may continue to fall over the next few days. This is the lowest temperature recorded in the district so far this winter, though not the lowest in the country.

Meanwhile, the cold has intensified as temperatures have dipped. Although bright sunshine appeared after 9am, it did little to ease the chill. The cold wind made the weather feel even colder.

Because of the drop in temperature, movement in Chuadanga town remained sparse in the morning. Except for essential needs, most people stayed indoors.

Low-income residents especially day labourers, van pullers, and rickshaw-pullers suffered the most from the cold.
