Cocktails were detonated in front of three polling centres in Gopalganj on Wednesday night, the eve of the election.
The explosions, which occurred between 7:30pm and 8:30pm, caused loud blasts that triggered widespread panic among local residents.
However, no casualties or property damage have been reported following the incidents.
According to the sources, the explosions took place at Binapani Government Primary School in the district town, Shahid Mahbub Government Primary School in Sadar Upazila, and Bindubasini School in Tungipara Upazila.
Md Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station, confirmed that unidentified miscreants exploded the “cocktails” (crude bombs) before fleeing the scene.
“We have collected evidence from the spots, and our operation to bring the actual criminals to justice is ongoing,” the OC stated. He further advised the public not to be panicked by the situation.
