The Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) arrested two alleged drug traffickers and seized 6,500 pieces of Yaba tablets during a special operation in Teknaf on Thursday evening.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from Coast Guard Station Teknaf conducted the drive at the border road area adjacent to Hnila under the jurisdiction of Teknaf Police Station, reads a press release.
During the operation, the Coast Guard personnel intercepted and searched a suspicious CNG-run auto-rickshaw. The search yielded 6,500 Yaba pills with an estimated market value of approximately Tk32.5 lakh.
Additionally, Tk8,446 in cash and four mobile phones were recovered from the possession of the two arrested individuals. Legal proceedings against the detainees and the seized evidence are currently underway.
The official further said the Coast Guard would continue to maintain such operations in the future to prevent the spread of dangerous narcotics.
