Five police stations under the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) have been assigned new Officers-in-Charge (OCs) following a strategic reshuffle. The move includes a second leadership change at Khulshi Police Station within just 48 hours, following the controversial harassment of national cricketer Nayeem Hasan.
The changes were formalised in an order signed by CMP Commissioner Hasan Md Showkat Ali on Monday. A total of eight police inspectors were transferred or posted to different units under the same order.
The most notable change occurred at Khulshi Police Station, which has faced administrative instability following allegations that cricketer Nayeem Hasan was harassed and assaulted on the premises. On 13 June, the then-OC Arifur Rahman was withdrawn from his post.
Although Bakalia Police Station OC Mohammad Solaiman was initially appointed to replace him, he was transferred to the City Special Branch (CTSB) within only 48 hours. Mozammel Haque, an inspector from the CTSB, has now been appointed as the new OC of Khulshi Police Station.
Further changes have been made across several police stations in the metropolitan area.
According to the official directive, the current Double Mooring Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jamal Uddin Khan has been transferred to the City Special Branch (CTSB). Simultaneously, Chawkbazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Babul Azad has been reassigned to the Detective Branch (DB-South).
Karnaphuli Police Station OC Shahinur Alam has been appointed as the new Officer-in-Charge of Double Mooring Police Station. In his stead, the previous City Special Branch (CTSB) Inspector Kazi Masud Ibne Anwar has been posted as the Officer-in-Charge of Karnaphuli Police Station.
Detective Branch (DB-South) Inspector Jasim Uddin has been appointed as the new Officer-in-Charge of Chandgaon Police Station. Consequently, the incumbent Chandgaon Officer-in-Charge Md Noor Hossain Mamun, has been transferred to take over duties as the Officer-in-Charge of Chawkbazar Police Station.
According to relevant sources, the rapid succession of leadership changes at Khulshi reflects the administrative unrest triggered by the controversy involving Nayeem Hasan. The transferred officers have been instructed to join their new workplaces immediately.
