Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain has urged for monitoring and bringing under control the clinics that have mushroomed like “toadstools” across the country.

He made these remarks at an Iftar organised by the Private Hospital, Clinic and Diagnostic Association at the Padma Hall of Hotel Sonargaon on Tuesday.

The health minister said, “To improve the health sector, we must pay attention to the private sector. With the cooperation of all of you (Private Hospital, Clinic and Diagnostic Association), we want to deliver healthcare services to the doorsteps of the people.”

The event was presided over by the association’s president, Dr Mosaddak Hossain Biswas Dumbel. Among those present were the association’s Secretary General Dr AM Shamim, Dr Farhad Halim Dona, Chief Adviser of DAB and member of the BNP Chairman’s Advisory Council; Member of Parliament Dr Mahbubur Rahman Liton; and central and district-level leaders of the Private Hospital, Clinic and Diagnostic Association.
