A Dhaka court on Sunday set 29 January for the Criminal Investigation Department to submit its report on the further investigation into the killing of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order after the investigation agency failed to submit the report on the day.
On 15 January, the court directed the Criminal Investigation Department to conduct further investigation into the case after the complainant expressed dissatisfaction with the probe and filed a naraji petition against the charge-sheet submitted by the Detective Branch of police.
The Detective Branch charge-sheet, submitted on 6 January by Inspector Foysal Ahmed, named 17 accused, including alleged shooter Foysal Karim Masud and his parents, Humayun Kabir and Hashi Begum.
According to the case statement, Foysal Karim Masud and Alamgir Hossain opened fire on Hadi while he was travelling in a battery-run auto-rickshaw on 12 December and fled the scene.
Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Zaber filed the case with Paltan Model Police Station on 14 December.
Following Hadi’s death on 18 December, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Siddiq Azad on 20 December ordered the inclusion of Section 302 of the Penal Code in the case, which had initially been filed as attempted murder.
