KMK Industrial Limited, a Chinese company, has signed an agreement with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) to invest $18.60 million in manufacturing airplane amenity kits at the BEPZA Economic Zone in Mirsarai.
This project will create 1,231 employment opportunities for Bangladeshi nationals.
The agreement was signed on 14 September, between Md Ashraful Kabir, member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, and Wu Yuxiang, chairman of KMK Industrial Limited. BEPZA executive chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, BSP, ndc, psc, was also present at the signing ceremony.
KMK Industrial Limited will initially focus on producing airplane amenity kits. The company plans to expand its production to include socks, garments, accessories, cosmetics, and selected electronic items such as headphones and USB cables.
This move introduces a unique and diversified product line to BEPZA’s portfolio, marking a significant addition to the industrial base.
At the signing ceremony, BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman thanked KMK Industrial Limited for choosing BEPZA Economic Zone as their investment destination. He assured full support for the smooth operation of the project.
He emphasised, “This project represents a milestone in our ongoing efforts to diversify export-oriented industries.
“We strongly encourage investors to develop in-house production capacity and source materials from local enterprises, thereby strengthening both industry and the national economy.”
The signing ceremony was attended by senior BEPZA officials, including Abdullah Al Mamun, member (Engineering); ANM Foyzul Haque, member (Finance); Md Tanvir Hossain, executive director (Investment Promotion); Md Khorshid Alam, executive director (Enterprise Services); Md Salahuddin, executive director (Administration); and ASM Anwar Parvez, executive director (Public Relations). Representatives from KMK Industrial Limited were also present.
